Upworthy and GOOD Announce Merger, Join Forces To Become the Leader in Social Good Media

January 27, 2017

Upworthy, a mission-driven media company, and GOOD Worldwide Inc., a global media brand and social impact company, today announced a merger that positions the new entity as the leader in social good media and consulting.

Upworthy and GOOD are uniquely positioned to help individuals, organizations, and brands drive progress. Together, the two companies reach over 276 million people on Facebook, garner billions of video views annually, and receive a combined 31 million unique visitors per month to their websites (ComScore, November 2016). They create content, provide consulting, strategy, and partnerships for some of the biggest and most innovative brands in the world, including Airbnb, Facebook, Google, PayPal, P&G, Starbucks, and the United Nations Foundation.

“Upworthy is teaming up with GOOD in an extraordinary moment for our world, our nation, and our industry,” said Upworthy co-founder and co-CEO Eli Pariser. “Our country is deeply divided, and working together we can inspire empathy and understanding between people of different backgrounds and drive action on a vast scale. As partners, we’re in a much stronger position to achieve our shared vision of using storytelling to make the world better.”

“There are a lot of good things that manifest quickly with this new entity,” said GOOD co-founder and co-CEO, Ben Goldhirsh. “We unite our teams to scale the work we do each day, and we bring a range of services at an unmatched level for those seeking to create societal impact. Clearly these are critical times and together, we're hungry to partner with every brand, every organization, and every individual in the world that truly wants to be a force for good.”

After the merger, Upworthy will join the GOOD Worldwide Inc. (“GOOD”) parent company. Upworthy and GOOD will continue to operate as standalone brands and will retain their brand names. Ben Goldhirsh and Max Schorr will remain co-CEOs of GOOD Worldwide Inc and Eli Pariser will join as President.
