Is it just me, or does every day come with the creeping dread of what might pop up on my news feed today? If we let it, we could easily slip into this cycle of anxiety.
Well, take this as an opportunity to shed some positivity on your day. Bill & Melinda Gates recently published their annual letter, and overall it is a very hopeful portrayal of our progress as a species. We love this video summary from Hank Green, which rightly says the letter gives us an opportunity to
zoom out and think about what's happening in the larger human story. Spoiler alert; it's super positive!
Child mortality is at an all-time low, the rate of child death is dropping faster than ever, and fewer than 10 percent of the world's population lives in absolute poverty. Do we have tons of work left to do? Absolutely. But we think it is always important to maintain perspective during these challenging times. And to celebrate that which is worth celebrating.
Keep your heads up, and keep pushing forward. After all, optimism is a strategy.
